The challenge

What wasn't working on its own

X-Bionic sold on Amazon vendor-only, supplying the marketplace as a wholesaler, which left the selling price and the buy box outside the brand's control. On Bol.com only a fraction of the range was listed. Worst of all, seasonal collections went live late, which is fatal for a brand built around seasons, while other sellers took the buy box from the official listing.

The solution

What changed with O1

  • Operator One became Merchant of Record, the legal seller across Europe, so pricing and listings came back under the brand's control.
  • The vendor dependency was unwound: the brand stopped accepting vendor orders and addressed its distributors, and O1 cleared improper sellers off the buy box.
  • The operation went live in about two months, starting with Germany and Italy, then rolling out collection by collection with each new season.
  • The range expanded beyond Amazon onto Zalando and Bol.com, reaching a fashion audience Amazon alone does not.
  • Day-to-day marketplace management moved to O1, freeing the brand's internal team.
  • X-Bionic keeps ownership of its inventory and sets its own pricing strategy throughout.

The result

8x

revenue growth across eight markets

X-Bionic trades as the seller rather than the supplier, across eight European markets and three platforms, with revenue several times its opening months.
