100+ European Marketplaces. One Operator.

Operator One holds active seller accounts and operational infrastructure across every major EU and UK marketplace. You go live on all of them under one contract.

Amazon is the dominant marketplace across most of Europe, but it isn't the whole picture. Local champions and category specialists capture meaningful share alongside it: Bol in NL/BE, Allegro in PL, Zalando in fashion, About You in DACH fashion, MediaMarkt in DE electronics, Cdiscount and Fnac/Darty in FR value-tier, Kaufland as a DACH growth lever, OTTO for home + lifestyle. A pan-EU launch covers all of them under one contract.

How to choose a marketplace

Marketplaces aren't interchangeable. They differ on who can list, what categories work, what shoppers expect, and the typical commission shape. The four lenses below are the ones we walk every brand through on a discovery call.

Access model

Open marketplaces let any registered seller list (Amazon, Bol.com, Allegro, Kaufland). Curated ones require an application and brand-fit approval (Zalando, About You, OTTO, MediaMarkt). Invite-only is just that (ASOS).

Category fit

A great fashion brand on Zalando can be a no-fit on MediaMarkt. Each card tags the categories where that marketplace actually drives volume. Start there.

Commission shape

Ranges shown are illustrative public approximations and depend on your category. The model that matters is whole P&L, not the headline %. We calculate yours on the call.

O1 status

Live = O1 has an active seller account today. On request = supported, listed only by partner agreement. Planned = on the roadmap.

Marketplace Directory

Filter by access model, country and category to find the marketplaces that fit your brand. Brands can launch on any combination within the standard ~30-day onboarding.

Commission ranges and category tags are illustrative approximations sourced from public marketplace materials; exact economics depend on category, deal terms and current promotions. We give you the audited numbers for your case on a discovery call.

EU Marketplaces: Common Questions

Why are some marketplaces 'Open' and others 'Curated'?

Open marketplaces (Amazon, Bol.com, Allegro, Kaufland) let any registered seller list once basic catalogue and compliance requirements are met. Curated marketplaces (Zalando, About You, OTTO, MediaMarkt, Breuninger) require an application and a brand-fit approval before you can sell; invite-only (ASOS) is exactly that.

How does Operator One get my brand into Curated marketplaces like Zalando, OTTO, MediaMarkt or Breuninger?

We submit the brand application as the legal seller and walk it through each marketplace's brand-fit review, including category positioning, pricing, catalogue depth and content readiness. The relationships and approval history are already in place, so most curated launches go faster through us than a brand approaching the marketplace cold.

Can I pick which marketplaces I sell on, or does O1 decide?

You decide. We recommend a launch mix based on your category, margin profile and logistics setup, but the final list is yours and you can add or pause marketplaces as you go. There is no requirement to launch on all 100+ at once.

What's the difference between 'Live', 'On request' and 'Planned' status?

'Live' means O1 holds an active seller account and is selling there today. 'On request' means we operate it via a partner agreement rather than a directly held O1 account; we confirm fit and timeline on a discovery call. 'Planned' means it's on the roadmap but not yet enabled.

Are these commission ranges what I'll actually pay?

The ranges shown are illustrative public approximations and depend heavily on category, deal terms and current promotions. The number that actually matters is the whole P&L for your catalogue, which we audit on a discovery call instead of quoting a headline percentage.

Do I need separate VAT registrations for every marketplace?

No. Operator One is the legal seller on every marketplace listed here, so EU VAT (OSS plus per-country where required), UK VAT and DAC7 reporting all sit with us. Your brand never registers for VAT in the destination countries and never files a marketplace VAT return.

What if my product category isn't in the listed categories?

The category tags on each marketplace card are the ones we see drive volume today, but they're not exhaustive. Send us your category on a discovery call and we'll tell you which marketplaces actually convert for it and which ones we'd skip.

How long until I can be live on Amazon DE, Bol.com, Allegro or Kaufland?

The standard target is ~30 days from contract signature to first live sale for open marketplaces with clean catalogue data. Curated marketplaces (Zalando, OTTO, MediaMarkt, Breuninger) and regulated categories can take longer because the brand-fit review and compliance docs are deeper.

Can you operate on marketplaces not in this directory?

Often, yes. The 100+ marketplaces O1 supports include directly held seller accounts and partner-network access; this page is the public subset we maintain in detail. If you have a specific marketplace in mind that isn't listed, ask on a discovery call and we'll tell you straight whether we can put you live.

What happens if a marketplace bans Operator One's account?

Marketplace account risk is ours, not yours. We hold the seller account, so account-health, suspension appeals and reinstatement work all sit with us, with documented backup processes for the marketplaces where suspension exposure is highest. Your brand stays selling on the other marketplaces in the meantime.

Do you handle returns on all of these marketplaces?

Yes. Returns flow through O1's two own EU fulfilment centres (DE and NL) plus the marketplaces' own returns programmes such as FBA and Bol.com logistics. We process, refurbish where appropriate, and re-list re-saleable units automatically across every marketplace in the directory.

Why aren't some Nordic, Baltic or Adriatic marketplaces listed yet?

The directory shows the marketplaces where we either hold a directly operated seller account or run a documented partner setup. Some Nordic, Baltic and Adriatic platforms are on the roadmap rather than live, and we'd rather mark them honestly than over-promise. Ask on a call if your target country is one of them and we'll tell you what's realistic.
