Brands get onto Joybuy in one of two ways: as a vendor, where Joybuy buys your stock and sells it under its own name, or as a seller on the curated marketplace Joybuy started testing in the second half of 2026. Both routes start at the same application portal. Joybuy has not published fees, commission or seller requirements, so expect those to be agreed with Joybuy directly. This guide sets out what Joybuy has published as of September 2026 and what it has not.
Key takeaways
- Joybuy is the European online retail business of JD.com. It officially launched in March 2026 in six markets: the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
- At launch, Joybuy was the seller on every order. Its terms in each market name a Joybuy (Jingdong Retail) company as the seller, and none mention third-party sellers.
- Joybuy offers two partner routes: a vendor model, in which it buys your inventory, and a seller model, in which you run your own store and control price and stock.
- In June 2026, a Joybuy spokesperson said the company was working with trusted brands to test a curated marketplace in the second half of 2026.
- No commission rates, fees, payout terms or seller requirements are published as of September 2026.
- Joybuy runs its own warehouses and its own last-mile delivery, JoyExpress, with a same-day promise: order by 11am and it arrives before 11pm, where eligible.
What Joybuy is
Joybuy is JD.com's European online retailer. Joybuy describes itself as "the European online retail business of JD.com", which it calls the largest retailer by revenue in China, and says it "officially launched in March 2026". Before that, JD.com ran Joybuy as a beta, and trade press reported a closed test among London users in 2025.
Joybuy serves six markets through four storefronts:
| Market | Storefront | Selling entity named in the terms |
|---|---|---|
| United Kingdom | joybuy.co.uk | Jingdong Retail (UK) Limited, trading as Joybuy |
| Germany | joybuy.de | Jingdong Retail Germany GmbH |
| France | joybuy.fr | Jingdong Retail (France) SAS |
| Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg | joybuy.nl | Jingdong Retail (Netherlands) B.V. |

The range is brand-led. Joybuy sells "technology, appliances, beauty, homeware, groceries and everyday essentials", and JD.com said the platform would carry more than 100,000 branded products. A brand selling outside those categories should expect a harder conversation.
Vendor or seller: the two ways in
Joybuy's Partner with Joybuy page offers two models, and the choice decides who owns the stock and who sells to the shopper.
- Vendor. "Supply products directly to Joybuy. Joybuy purchases inventory from your business and sells it to customers across the platform." This is the model Joybuy launched with: Joybuy is the retailer, sets the shelf price and holds the customer relationship.
- Seller. "Sell your products directly to customers through the Joybuy marketplace. Create and manage your own store, control pricing and inventory." Here you keep pricing and stock control, and with them the duties of the seller.
The marketplace is at an early stage. On 9 June 2026, a Joybuy spokesperson told The Grocer: "We are working with trusted brands to test a curated marketplace in the second half of 2026." The words "curated" and "test" matter. Joybuy has not said the marketplace is open to all applicants, which countries it covers, or when it will leave the test phase.
How to apply
Both models start at the same portal. The steps below are how we would approach it:
- Choose a model. Decide whether you want Joybuy to buy your stock (vendor) or to sell to shoppers yourself and keep control of price and inventory (seller).
- Check your range fits. Joybuy is brand-led and focuses on technology, appliances, beauty, homeware, groceries and everyday essentials.
- Pick your markets. Joybuy runs joybuy.co.uk, joybuy.de, joybuy.fr and joybuy.nl, which also serves Belgium and Luxembourg.
- Apply through the partner portal. Start from the Partner with Joybuy page and complete the application at vendor.joybuy.com.
- Prepare the seller side. Have a legal selling entity, VAT and product-safety information ready for each country before you list.
Joybuy does not publish its acceptance criteria, documents or minimum requirements, and the portal's content is behind a login.
Fees and commission
Joybuy has not published commission rates, listing fees, fulfilment fees or payout terms for vendors or marketplace sellers as of September 2026. Trade outlet ChannelX wrote in June 2026 that it did not "currently have details of their selling proposition… or what the marketplace fees may be". For a vendor, the commercial terms are a purchase price negotiated with Joybuy's buyers. For a seller, wait for Joybuy's own terms before modelling margins.
Delivery, fulfilment and returns
Joybuy controls its own logistics. JoyExpress, JD.com's last-mile service announced on 10 February 2026, is backed by "more than 60 warehouses and depots across Europe" and runs in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and France. Joybuy's delivery promise is: "if shoppers order by 11am, orders will arrive before 11pm the same day; order before 11pm and they arrive the next day, subject to eligibility."
For marketplace sellers, Joybuy has not published fulfilment options. According to The Grocer, most brands in the marketplace test are expected to deliver into JD.com's warehouses in Milton Keynes and Luton and its hubs in the Netherlands, Germany and France. The same report says products will be "both held within Joybuy's warehouses and delivered directly to consumer doorsteps from suppliers."
Shoppers expect free returns. In the UK, Joybuy offers "a voluntary 30-day free return service for most products", and the return label is usually prepaid by Joybuy. Exceptions include fresh and frozen food and opened beauty products, and seasonal cooling products have a 14-day window. Joybuy has not yet said how returns will work for marketplace sellers.
What the seller side involves
On the seller model, you carry the legal duties of the seller, not Joybuy. For EU markets, those include VAT where you hold stock or sell, packaging registration country by country, and product-safety information. Under the General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988, applicable since 13 December 2024), each product needs a responsible economic operator in the EU. Joybuy has not published which documents it will ask sellers for. Our compliance glossary explains the terms, and our European marketplace landscape shows how Joybuy's markets compare with the rest of Europe.
