To sell on Kaufland Netherlands, a brand registers with Kaufland Global Marketplace, activates the Kaufland.nl sales channel in the Seller Portal, lists in Dutch, adds an OSS number or a Dutch VAT ID, and ships every order itself, because Kaufland runs no fulfilment service and its label service does not cover the Netherlands. Kaufland.nl opened on 8 September 2026 as Kaufland's eighth storefront, with more than 9 million items and around 3,000 sellers on board. On Kaufland.nl, commission runs from 7% to 16% by category, plus a monthly fee from €39.95 plus VAT that covers every Kaufland storefront.
Key takeaways
- Kaufland.nl went live on 8 September 2026 with more than 9 million items in over 6,400 categories, and around 3,000 of Kaufland's 15,000 marketplace sellers on board.
- More than 1,200 Dutch sellers were already selling on other Kaufland storefronts before Kaufland.nl opened.
- On Kaufland.nl, commission ranges from 7% (computers and consumer electronics) to 16% (jewellery), calculated on the gross sales price including delivery charges, plus VAT.
- Kaufland.nl asks for no EPR registration numbers in October 2026, but Dutch law still applies: Verpact declarations above 50,000 kg of packaging a year, Stichting OPEN for electronics and batteries, and 1:1 take-back of old devices.
- Kaufland's GLS label service covers parcels from Germany to 5 countries, not including the Netherlands; for pick-up-point delivery on Kaufland.nl, Kaufland supports DHL, GLS and DPD.
- bol, the Dutch market leader, says it reaches more than 14 million consumers; its October 2026 commission table runs from 2.1% to 20.7% plus €0 to €2.99 per item, ex VAT.

Kaufland.nl launched on 8 September 2026 with more than 9 million items
Kaufland.nl went live on 8 September 2026, Kaufland's eighth marketplace storefront after Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, France and Italy. Kaufland's launch press release gives these figures for Kaufland.nl:
- More than 9 million items in over 6,400 categories (a quote in the same release says "over 8.5 million"), led by home and furnishing, electronics and computers, garden, pets and DIY, kitchen and household, toys, baby, sport and outdoor, and fashion.
- Around 3,000 of Kaufland's 15,000 European marketplace sellers on board for Kaufland.nl.
- More than 1,200 Dutch sellers already selling on the existing Kaufland storefronts before the Dutch launch.
- More than 2,500 sellers in North Rhine-Westphalia, the German state bordering the Netherlands, which Kaufland calls an obvious fit because of short delivery times.
Kaufland also reported 11.9% marketplace GMV growth in its last financial year, with international business up 124%, and said Kaufland.fr and Kaufland.it each reached up to one million visitors a month within a few months, an ambition it sets for Kaufland.nl too.
How Kaufland.nl compares with bol and Amazon.nl
bol is the Dutch market leader: on its commission page, bol says it reaches more than 14 million consumers and is visited more than 100 million times a month. Amazon.nl is the other large general marketplace. For a Dutch or Belgian brand, the question is what Kaufland.nl adds next to bol, not whether it replaces bol.
| Topic | Kaufland.nl | bol |
|---|---|---|
| Reach published by the marketplace | 9 million+ items, about 3,000 sellers at launch | 14 million+ consumers, 100 million+ visits a month |
| Commission | 7% to 16% by category, plus VAT | 2.1% to 20.7% plus €0 to €2.99 per item, ex VAT |
| Commission base | Gross sales price including delivery charges | Sales price including VAT |
| Marketplace fulfilment | None since 28 February 2025 | Logistiek via bol, stock in bol's distribution centres |
| EPR check in the Netherlands | No EPR numbers required | Must refuse non-paying producers of batteries |
| Belgium | No Belgian storefront | Sells in Belgium, "more than a million" extra customers a day |
| Other countries, same account | Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia | Netherlands and Belgium |

The commission bases differ: Kaufland.nl applies its percentage to the gross price including delivery and adds VAT to the commission, while bol quotes ex VAT on the price including VAT and calls its table an estimate. Our bol guide covers the bol side.
Dutch demand favours the categories Kaufland launched with. The Thuiswinkel Markt Monitor 2025 reports €35.7 billion of Dutch online consumer spending across 347 million purchases, 13% of it (€4.5 billion) with foreign webshops. Online product spending grew 2%, led by Home and Living (+12%), Home Electronics (+10%) and Toys (+24%), and DIY and Garden purchases rose 11%.
For a brand already on bol, the strongest case for Kaufland.nl is what comes with it: the same registration and fee also open Kaufland.de, Kaufland.at, Kaufland.fr, Kaufland.it and three Central European storefronts.
Dutch VAT on Kaufland.nl sales
On Kaufland.nl, an EU seller must enter either an OSS number or a Dutch VAT ID for the Kaufland.nl channel, and a non-EU seller must always register for VAT in the Netherlands, according to Kaufland's tax registration page. Kaufland validates each VAT ID through the EU VIES system and a qualified check by Germany's Federal Central Tax Office (BZSt), and can hide a channel's offers if the number fails or the legal notice does not match the tax data. Dutch VAT is 21% at the standard rate and 9% at the reduced rate. Which registration fits depends on where the stock sits:
- Dutch brand shipping from Dutch stock: sales to Dutch consumers are domestic supplies declared in the Dutch VAT return, not in OSS, as the European Commission's OSS guidance sets out.
- Belgian, German or other EU brand shipping from home: these are distance sales. Below the EU-wide €10,000 threshold for cross-border sales to consumers, home-country VAT may apply; above it, Dutch VAT is due, declared through the OSS Union scheme or a Dutch registration.
- Any foreign brand holding stock in the Netherlands: the Belastingdienst states that a foreign entrepreneur selling goods in the Netherlands to private individuals must charge Dutch VAT, file a Dutch VAT return and register with the Dutch tax administration.
This is the general framework as of October 2026, not tax advice; confirm your position with an adviser.
Packaging, WEEE and battery EPR for Kaufland.nl
Kaufland.nl does not ask sellers to upload EPR registration numbers: Kaufland's registration page states that "currently, you are not required to enter EPR information to sell on Kaufland.nl", while packaging numbers are mandatory on Kaufland.de, Kaufland.pl, Kaufland.fr and Kaufland.es. The Dutch obligations apply regardless, and Kaufland's EPR page for Kaufland.nl places compliance on the seller "even without verification by Kaufland Global Marketplace". It lists the Dutch schemes:
- Packaging: Verpact. A producer or importer placing more than 50,000 kg of packaging a year on the Dutch market must declare, including a company with no Dutch establishment selling online to Dutch consumers; single-use plastics count from the first unit, according to Verpact.
- Electrical and electronic equipment and batteries: Stichting OPEN, which also registers the producer in the Nationaal (W)EEE Register.
- Other streams: UPV Textiel for textiles, RECYBEM for tyres and Matras Recycling Nederland for mattresses.
Kaufland adds four Kaufland.nl specifics: registration takes about 2 to 3 weeks per waste stream; any registration number must appear on customer invoices; sellers of electrical equipment must offer free 1:1 take-back of a similar old device and state it in their Kaufland.nl terms; and a battery number can already be entered under Shop Settings, EPR Compliance, with Kaufland.nl selected. Kaufland's paid EPR Service (€1.90 per category per month) covers France, Italy and Spain, not the Netherlands.
bol is stricter today: it says it is legally required to refuse partners who pay no producer-responsibility contribution, which in the Netherlands applies to batteries. Our Netherlands EPR guide covers thresholds, deadlines and the PPWR changes.
Shipping and returns into the Netherlands
On Kaufland.nl, the seller ships every order: Kaufland ended Fulfilment by Kaufland on 28 February 2025, and Kaufland Shipment Solutions sells GLS labels only from Germany to Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. A Kaufland.nl seller needs its own carrier contracts or a logistics provider.
- Pick-up points: Kaufland's shipping settings guide (updated 11 September 2026) supports parcel locker and parcel shop delivery to Kaufland.nl customers through DHL, GLS and DPD. PostNL is not on that list.
- Delivery promise: Kaufland shows handling time plus transport time in working days, so a route from Germany or Belgium needs its real transit time in the shipping group.
- Public holidays: Kaufland measures delivery and ticket KPIs against the holidays of the sales channel, and states that German holidays are not taken into account on non-German storefronts. Its 2026 holiday overview (updated 3 February 2026) does not yet list Dutch holidays.
- Returns: Kaufland's automated DPD returns can be switched on for Kaufland.nl, with a return label charge of at most €5.00; the return address must be in the EU.
Dutch-language listings, customer service and legal texts
Everything a Kaufland.nl customer sees must be in Dutch: Kaufland requires product data, customer communication and legal texts in each storefront's national language, and offers free translation of product data, customer tickets and legal texts. Kaufland's legal texts page (updated 26 June 2026) names a drafting partner for seven storefronts, not Kaufland.nl, so Dutch terms need their own review against Dutch law. Under Article 19 of the EU General Product Safety Regulation, an online offer must also show warnings and safety information in a language determined by the member state where the product is sold.
What is the same on every Kaufland storefront
One Kaufland registration, one Seller Portal and one monthly fee cover all eight storefronts, so a Dutch seller who adds Kaufland.nl can switch on Kaufland.de or Kaufland.at later at no extra fee. Kaufland handles payment processing and first-level customer service, while the seller invoices, ships and answers tickets within 48 hours. Our Kaufland marketplace guide covers onboarding and plans, and the Kaufland Netherlands directory entry summarises the channel.

No. As of October 2026, Kaufland does not require EPR information to sell on Kaufland.nl, but Dutch packaging, WEEE and battery rules still apply and Kaufland places compliance on the seller.
Is Kaufland.nl cheaper than bol?
It depends on the category. Kaufland.nl charges 7% to 16% on the gross price including delivery plus a monthly fee from €39.95 plus VAT, while bol charges 2.1% to 20.7% plus €0 to €2.99 per item, ex VAT, in its October 2026 table.
