Kaufland Fulfilment Options for Marketplace Sellers

Kaufland ended its own fulfilment service in February 2025. How sellers ship Kaufland orders in 2026: KSS labels, 3PLs, delivery KPIs, returns and fees.

By Operator One Editorial, 5 October 2026

Kaufland does not run a fulfilment service for marketplace sellers in October 2026: it terminated Fulfilment by Kaufland (FBK) on 28 February 2025, so every Kaufland order is now shipped by the seller or by the seller's third-party logistics provider (3PL). Kaufland's remaining logistics product is Kaufland Shipment Solutions (KSS), a GLS label service for parcels sent from a warehouse in Germany. Kaufland then measures each seller's delivery against published targets, including at least 80% trackable shipments and fewer than 1% seller-related cancellations.

Key takeaways

  • Kaufland terminated Fulfilment by Kaufland (FBK) on 28 February 2025, as recorded in version 2.18.2 of its Seller API release notes.
  • Kaufland Shipment Solutions sells GLS shipping labels for parcels from Germany to 5 countries (Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic), with a maximum parcel weight of 40 kg.
  • On Kaufland, at least 80% of order units must carry a valid tracking number, and neither the late nor the early delivery rate should exceed 10%.
  • Kaufland sellers must answer 100% of customer tickets within 48 hours and keep seller-related cancellations below 1% a month.
  • A Kaufland seller with a monthly seller-related cancellation rate between 1% and 2.99% is charged 7% of the cancelled transactions' total price, rising to 15% above 3%.
  • One Kaufland registration covers all 8 live EU storefronts (Kaufland.es is announced) for a monthly base fee of €39.95 (Basic) or €59.95 (Plus), plus VAT.
  • Kaufland commission runs from 7% to 16% by category on every storefront except Kaufland.pl, where it runs from 4% to 12%.

Does Kaufland still offer Fulfilment by Kaufland?

No. Kaufland terminated Fulfilment by Kaufland (FBK) on 28 February 2025. Kaufland's Seller API release notes record the "Termination of the Fulfillment by Kaufland Service" in version 2.18.2 on that date, together with the deprecation of the fulfilled_by_kaufland value in the API. While it ran, FBK stored sellers' stock in Kaufland warehouses in Germany and the Czech Republic, served the Kaufland.de, Kaufland.cz and Kaufland.sk storefronts, and required proof of VAT registration in Germany or the Czech Republic for the warehouse used.

Kaufland's seller site now describes the standard model plainly: Kaufland passes the shopper's shipping details to the seller, and "you are responsible for shipping the ordered goods to the end customer." Kaufland processes the payment and provides first-level customer service; the seller ships, invoices and answers customer tickets.

Guides that still describe FBK as live are out of date. In 2026 Kaufland has no stock-holding programme comparable to Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA), where the marketplace stores, picks, packs and ships the seller's stock, and there is no Kaufland fulfilment fee to budget for.

Kaufland Shipment Solutions: Kaufland's shipping label service

Kaufland Shipment Solutions (KSS) is a label-reselling service, not a fulfilment service: the seller keeps the stock, packs the parcel and buys the label in the Seller Portal or via the Seller API. Kaufland added the KSS page to its Seller API documentation on 6 December 2024. The main rules in Kaufland's KSS documentation are:

  • Carrier: GLS handles all KSS logistics.
  • Routes: deliveries from Germany to Germany, Austria, Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Return labels run only from those countries back to Germany.
  • First mile: GLS collects from a warehouse address in Germany, or the seller drops parcels at a German GLS drop-off point.
  • Parcel limits: standard dimensions of 120 x 80 x 60 cm and a maximum weight of 40 kg. Extra charges apply when the longest side exceeds 120 cm or the item is non-conveyable.
  • Exclusions: hazardous goods and items that need hauler (freight) delivery.

Kaufland does not publish KSS label prices on its public pages; sellers sign up through a support ticket or their Kaufland contact person. A Kaufland seller blog post, last updated in June 2026, promotes KSS as reaching all Kaufland marketplace countries in 2 to 4 days, which is wider than the five destinations in the technical documentation. Confirm the current route list with Kaufland before planning France, Italy, Spain or the Netherlands on KSS.

How Kaufland calculates delivery time

On Kaufland, the delivery time shown to shoppers is the seller's handling time (set per offer) plus the transport time (set in the shipping group). Only working days count: Saturday is not a working day, and the public holidays of the storefront's country are excluded. Kaufland applies each storefront's own national holidays, so a German public holiday extends delivery windows on Kaufland.de but not on Kaufland.cz or Kaufland.sk.

Kaufland recommends a delivery window span of no more than 3 days for windows shorter than 10 days, for example 2 to 4 days. Kaufland tells sellers to add delays caused by external factors, including their shipping provider, to the delivery time straight away.

Kaufland's Smart Delivery Time Automation sets transport times from the seller's past delivery performance. According to Kaufland's shipping settings guide, offers that use the automation are excluded from the KPI process, and a seller facing stock shortages can pause it for 7 days.

Kaufland shipping groups, costs and parcel limits

Every Kaufland offer must be linked to a shipping group, and a seller cannot create offers until at least one shipping group exists. The shipping group holds the shipping cost, destination regions, carrier, transport time and the cut-off time for same-day dispatch.

  • A uniform shipping group serves several Kaufland storefronts at once. Costs are entered in one currency and converted into each storefront's currency, and existing storefront-specific groups are being moved into uniform groups automatically.
  • Shoppers pay the delivery charge once per order, whatever the number of items, and Kaufland shows a warning (not a cap) when a parcel shipping cost exceeds €5.00.
  • Delivery to parcel lockers and parcel shops can carry its own, usually lower, price per region.
  • DHL Packstations accept parcels up to 75 x 60 x 40 cm and 31.5 kg. Packeta Z-BOXes on Kaufland.cz and Kaufland.sk accept parcels up to 45 x 36 x 61 cm and 5 kg.

Kaufland performance KPIs and the targets sellers must hit

Kaufland measures every seller-fulfilled order unit against published service targets, per storefront, and each item is its own order unit, so an order with 10 items counts as 10 order units. The targets below come from Kaufland's delivery performance KPIs, customer service KPIs and order management rules.

Kaufland KPIKaufland targetMeasured over

Seller-related cancellations also cost money on Kaufland. If the monthly seller-related cancellation rate is between 1% and 2.99%, Kaufland charges 7% of the total price of the cancelled transactions; above 3%, the charge rises to 15%. Kaufland also does not release a seller's sales revenue for an order until the order is marked as shipped.

What happens when a Kaufland seller misses a target

Kaufland escalates a missed KPI through four warning levels per storefront, and the last level hides the seller's offers on that storefront.

  1. Warning level 1, information: a KPI misses the marketplace target and no response is required.
  2. Warning level 2, offers at risk of being hidden: the seller must take concrete steps and then contact Kaufland's controlling team.
  3. Warning level 3, hiding of offers in review: Kaufland reviews whether to hide the seller's offers on that storefront.
  4. Warning level 4, offers hidden: the offers stay hidden until the seller requests a review from the controlling team.

Kaufland reports shortfalls by email and shows the current warning level above the "To be processed" list in the Seller Portal performance dashboard.

Returns rules for seller-fulfilled Kaufland orders

On Kaufland, the default return period is 14 days, and the seller pays the return shipping when the item price exceeds €40 (990 Kč on Kaufland.cz), excluding postage. Kaufland's returns settings guide adds these rules:

  • Below the free-returns limit, the return label charge passed to the shopper may not exceed €5.
  • Kaufland's DHL return label programme requires the seller's own DHL returns contract and a German return address; automated DPD returns also go only to addresses in Germany.
  • If the seller does not process a return within 3 working days of receipt, Kaufland confirms it automatically and the refund starts.
  • The returns address must be in the EU.

Selling cross-border on Kaufland's EU storefronts

One Kaufland registration gives access to eight live EU storefronts: Kaufland.de, Kaufland.at, Kaufland.cz, Kaufland.sk, Kaufland.pl, Kaufland.fr, Kaufland.it and Kaufland.nl, which Kaufland opened on 8 September 2026. Kaufland.es is announced, not live: Kaufland said on 8 September 2026 that Spain would follow shortly and already lists it in its seller conditions and commission table, but on 5 October 2026 kaufland.es still redirected to Kaufland's corporate country page. Kaufland states that activating an additional storefront is included in the monthly base fee, and puts the network at 220 million potential online customers, more than 6,400 categories and 15,000 sellers.

Kaufland's expansion guide sets out the onboarding for each extra storefront:

  1. Register and choose storefronts. Register once as a Kaufland seller, then add each storefront as a sales channel in the Seller Portal.
  2. Create a uniform shipping group. Add every destination country as a region, with its own shipping cost and transport time.
  3. Translate the product data. Upload translated data, or switch on Kaufland's free automated product data translation.
  4. Create offers per storefront. Offers match to products by EAN and carry their own price, delivery time and condition on each storefront.
  5. Add tax information. EU sellers enter an OSS number, or a country-specific VAT ID for each Kaufland sales channel.
  6. Add legal texts and a returns address. Legal texts must be in the storefront's language and follow local law, and the returns address must be in the EU.
  7. Publish the storefront. Click "Publish now" to activate the sales channel; offers go live only after this step.

Kaufland translates product data and customer tickets free of charge and includes first-level customer support in the local language on every storefront. Kaufland measures each seller against the delivery window the seller sets for that storefront, so a longer cross-border route needs an honest, longer transport time for that region in the shipping group.

A single warehouse can serve several Kaufland storefronts this way. From Germany, KSS covers five destinations; for France, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain the documented KSS routes do not apply, so sellers ship with their own carrier contracts or a 3PL. On VAT, the European Commission states that sales from stock held inside a member state to customers in that state go on that country's domestic VAT return, not the OSS, so storing stock in a country can require a VAT registration there.

Kaufland fees in 2026: base fee and commission

Kaufland charges a monthly base fee plus a commission on each sale, and because it no longer fulfils orders there is no Kaufland fulfilment or storage fee. According to Kaufland's conditions page, the Basic plan costs €39.95 a month (990 Kč or 175 zł) and the Plus plan €59.95 a month (1,500 Kč or 260 zł), both plus VAT, and either plan covers all Kaufland storefronts. An upgrade takes effect immediately; a downgrade takes effect four weeks after the request. The Plus plan also includes a €30 monthly credit for Sponsored Product Ads, covered in our Kaufland advertising guide.

Whichever option a seller picks, the Kaufland KPIs apply to the seller account, not to the warehouse: a 3PL that ships late still pushes the seller towards warning level 4. For wider context, see our guide to selling on Kaufland Global Marketplace and the Kaufland Germany marketplace page.

How Operator One handles Kaufland fulfilment for brands

Operator One sells on Kaufland's storefronts as the legal seller, the Merchant of Record, so the Kaufland seller account and its delivery and ticket KPIs sit with Operator One rather than with the brand. Brands consign stock, and Operator One ships Kaufland orders from its own fulfilment centres in Germany and the Netherlands; on marketplaces that run their own logistics programme, Operator One uses that programme instead. Operator One files OSS and IOSS returns plus local VAT registrations where it holds stock, and Kaufland is one of more than 100 marketplaces in 28 countries where it sells.

Frequently asked questions

Does Kaufland have a fulfilment service like Amazon FBA?

No. Kaufland terminated Fulfilment by Kaufland (FBK) on 28 February 2025, so Kaufland sellers ship orders themselves or through a 3PL. Kaufland Shipment Solutions only sells GLS shipping labels for parcels sent from a warehouse in Germany.

What tracking rate does Kaufland require?

Kaufland expects at least 80% of order units to carry a valid tracking number, measured over the last completed month. Sellers add the tracking number when they mark an order unit as shipped.

How quickly must Kaufland sellers answer customer tickets?

Kaufland requires sellers to answer 100% of outstanding customer tickets within 48 hours. Weekends and the storefront's national holidays are taken into account.

Can one warehouse serve all Kaufland storefronts?

Yes. One Kaufland registration covers all eight live EU storefronts, with Kaufland.es announced, and a uniform shipping group can set a separate price and transport time for each destination country. The returns address must be in the EU.

What happens if a Kaufland seller cancels too many orders?

Kaufland's target is below 1% seller-related cancellations a month. Between 1% and 2.99% Kaufland charges 7% of the cancelled transactions' total price, and above 3% it charges 15%.

How much does it cost to sell on Kaufland in 2026?

Kaufland charges a monthly base fee of €39.95 (Basic) or €59.95 (Plus), plus VAT, and a commission per sale of 7% to 16% depending on category, or 4% to 12% on Kaufland.pl.
